Introduction at the Hospital

Nu är vi framme i Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Resan från Kastrup var lång, ca 24h inklusive väntetid i Dubai, samt mycket skumpigt på grund av att vi flög igenom oväder.... Det första som slog en var värmen utanför flygplatsen. Det var som att gå in i en värmevägg med hög luftfuktighet. Från flygplatsen var det mycket smidigt att ta en taxi till lägenheten vi har hyrt (vi kommer bo här under hela vistelsen). Vi fick känslan av att allt gick att fixa smidigt på grund av att taxi var lätt att få tag i och att få visumtillståndet gick som tåget eftersom vi ansökt om e-visa för ca en månad innan resan.
Allt är nytt för majortien av oss, trafiken , maten, vädret, kultur, språk och mycket, mycket mer!
Idag måndag, 17/6-19, gjorde vi första besöket på sjukhuset vi ska göra vår praktik på. Vi träffade vår kontakt som hjälp oss oerhört mycket med kontakten mellan oss och sjukhuset. På sjukhuset betalade vi också en så kallad intrångsavgift för att få vara där under praktiken. Vi betalade 2.4 miljoner VND! Det må låta mycket, men motsvarar ca 1000 SEK. Kul att vi få uppleva att vara miljonär!
Imorgon blir första riktig dagen på praktiken. Vi hoppas att det kommer bli lärorikt att få se hur röntgensjuksköterskor arbetar här, eller ja hur radiologic technologist arbetar.

Now we are in Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The trip from Castrup Airport was long, about 24h including waiting time in Dubai for our connection flight. On the plane it was occationally very bumpy due to the fact that we flew through turbulent weather... Once on ground again, on Vietnamese soil, and left the airport the heat and humidity from the outside air hit us like a heat wall. From the airport it was very convenient to take a taxi to the apartment we rented (where we will live throughout our stay). We got the feeling that everything could be fixed smoothly because the taxi was easy to get a hold of and getting the visa permit went like a charm because we applied for e-visa for about a month before the trip.
Everything here is new to the majority of us, the traffic, the food, the weather, culture, language and much, much more!
Today, Monday the 17th, we made the first visit to the hospital we are going to do our internship. We met our contact who helped us a lot throughout the planning process, with the contact between us and the hospital. At the hospital, we also paid a so-called intrusion fee for being able to intern at the hospital. We paid 2.4 million VND, which might sound like a lot but corresponds to about SEK 1,000. It's a fun feeling being a millionaire though, haha!
Tomorrow will be the first day of practice at the radiology department in the hospital. We hope to get insight into how radiographers work here in Vietnam, what ethical dilemmas they encounter here, what equipment they have... we could go on forever! We have a lot we're looking forward to!
